She was born Dec. 4, 1921 in New Mexico. She previously lived in Paradise for 34 years.

She was employed at North American for 28 years and retired in 1969. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Kramer; son, Phil Sedillos; two grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Louis Sedillos, Stanley Cyrus and Jose Corral. Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Chino Hills.

Funeraria del Angel Pierce Brothers Grif th Chino was in charge of arrangements. Joann Helen Arena Mary Jane Attebery-Nichols Joann Helen Arena, 86, of Chino, died May 17, 2014, in Chino. She was born Dec. 27, 1927, in Philadelphia and was a Chino resident for 24 years. She previously resided in Whittier for 20 years.

She was self-employed as an insurance agent, and was involved with adult public schools throughout the state for arts and crafts. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Chino, Soroptimist, and a charter member of Whittier Historical Society. She was involved in the Historical Society of Pico Rivera and The Pico Rivera Chamber, Life underwriters, and was also a member of Whittier Chamber of Commerce. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Carmelo Richard Arena; daughter, Rose Anne Arena Abalos; son, Richard Michael Arena; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday May 27, 2014, with rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel Pierce Brothers Grif th, 13002 S. Central Ave. Chino.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 12688 Central Ave. Chino. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m.

at Riverside National Cemetery. Funeraria del Angel Pierce Brothers Grif th Chino is in charge of arrangements. Stephanie L. Rhea Matthew Brian Pierce Stephanie L. Rhea, 41, a longtime Chino resident, died May 15, 2014, of pneumonia.

She was born Oct. 13, 1972, in Anaheim and moved to Chino when she was 3 years old. She graduated in 1991 from Don Lugo High School in Chino. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her mother, Laura Rhea of Chino; and sister, Gina Hopkins of Upland.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Rhea, in 2011. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today (May 24, 2014), at Church of Our Heritage, Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 21300 Via Verde Drive, Covina. Matthew Brian Pierce died May, 21, 2014, at home in Canyon Lake. He was 29.

He was born July 26, 1984, at CHOC Hospital in Orange. After moving to Chino Hills in 1986, he attended Glenmeade Elementary School, Townsend Junior High, Ayala High and La Verne Lutheran. He moved to Canyon Lake in 2003 and earned his degree in industrial technology at Ivy Tech Community College. For 10 years, he was a journeyman for Ironworkers Local 416. He worked for Integrity, United Steel Placers, and CMC Rebar.

During his career, he constructed many freeway bridges throughout Southern California. He was a fearless thrill seeker, enjoying wake boarding and snowboarding. He was a member of the ski patrol at Bear Mountain in the San Bernardino Mountains. He is survived by his parents, Jack and Alicia Pierce; twin brother, Brandon Pierce; Christi Fleming; grandparents, Donna and Tom Franson, Betty and Don Pierce, and his Chihuahua, Toby. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m.

Thursday, May 29, 2014, with Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 14085 Peyton Drive, Chino Hills. The family requests memorial donations to the charity of the choice. Funeraria del Angel Pierce Brothers Grif th, Chino, is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy P. Royalty Dorothy P. Royalty, 96, died May 16, 2014. She was born Feb. 13, 1918, in San Dimas, the sixth of 10 children of Floyd and Dora Bartram.

She attended schools in Glendora, Pomona and Chino, graduating from Chino High in 1935. At 17, she married Lloyd Royalty and they made their home in Pomona. She worked with her husband at Royalty Produce market and later at B. Dalton bookstore. She helped raise several of her grandchildren when their parents worked.

She taught Sunday school for most of her adult life. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle solver. She could knowledgeably discuss sports, literature, politics, world events, the Bible and many other topics. She is survived by daughters, Dorothy Butler and Joyce Weed; son, Roland Royalty; sister, Jean Leach; 13 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, in 1993; youngest daughter, Kathleen Berk; and eight of her nine siblings.

Todd Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Church, Sixth Street and Riverside Drive. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be private. Mary Jane Attebery-Nichols, 89, died May 13, 2014, in Pomona.

She was born Nov. 11, 1924. She is survived by her children, Carl, Donald, Carol MacDonald and Betty Hurtado. She was preceded in death by her husband, B.H. Attebery, and son, Robert.

A demonstration will be provided by Espie Biscocho- Pasignan of Diamond Bar. The speakers will discuss how therapeutic grade essential oils are used.

Collection drive to bene troops Paci ca Hillsborough senior community is sponsoring a collection drive for troops through May. Desired items include bottled water and sports drinks, canned soda, snacks, disposable razors, toothbrushes, lip balm, travel size toiletries. Group needs names A local group that sends packages to active duty troops asks the public to submit names and addresses of military men and women connected with the Chino Valley area.

Packages include donations from local Girl Scout troops, including Girl Scout Cookies, toiletries, letters, magazines, snacks and other requested items. In addition to names of soldiers, the group accepts donations. Chino Relay for Life team Light Sabers will hold a Bunco Night fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, 6 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7 at 4416 Los Serranos Chino Hills. Chino Relay for Life team DYEnamite will hold a fundraiser to bene American Cancer Society from 11 a.m.

The Fugitives will play and there will be a 50-50 raf e. The event will be co-hosted by the Chino Relay for Life teams The Number and East Meets West for Kat the Rest. Twenty-percent of all proceeds will be donated to Relay for Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Reservations: 927-5383. Friday is deadline to opt out of monitored school Parents of children attending local schools that are being monitored by the state for not meeting academic goals for all students have through Friday, May 30, to apply to transfer their child to another school. Chino Valley school district parents must submit a School of Choice transfer request for the 2014-15 school by that date. Students who attend Borba, Cortez, Chaparral, Dickson, Glenmeade, Cattle, Liberty, Marshall, Dickey, Newman or Wal- nut elementary schools may be eligible to transfer to Butter eld Ranch or Hidden Trails elementary schools in Chino Hills.

Students who attend Woodcrest, Magnolia or Ramona junior high schools may be eligible to transfer to Canyon Hills or Townsend junior high schools in Chino Hills.
